After failing to meet expectations the Carolina Hurricanes have reached the decision to try and recoup assets by trading Jake Guentzel.

During the NHL trade deadline, the Carolina Hurricanes acquired Jake Guentzel from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Thanks to the deals, the Hurricanes' roster gained much-needed scoring. Regretfully, Carolina's trade didn't go as planned, as the New York Rangers eliminated them from the postseason.
The team has realized they won't be able to sign Guentzel after making several attempts to do so. Guentzel is currently off the market due to the hurricanes' impact on asset management. At this point, it's unknown whether Carolina will attempt to execute a sign and trade or if this move will take the shape of a pure trade.
Today NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed the asking price.

Jake Guentzel scored 34 goals and collected 44 assists for a total of 78 points in 74 games played between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes during the previous season. Guentzel has already been associated with the Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks during the past week, with both teams purportedly showing interest in his talents.
