The Senators are looking for a new starter for 2024-25 after Joonas Korpisalo, who joined with Ottawa last summer, had a dismal season in the net.

The Ottawa Senators and five other teams were connected to Linus Ullmark in May by David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, and it seems that the two parties have been discussing a possible trade.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman disclosed on Thursday's episode of "The Jeff Marek Show" that the Senators and Bruins had discussed a possible trade before the deadline, but it was too difficult to pursue at the moment. Friedman mentioned that while goaltenders seldom make that much money in a trade, Post Media's Bruce Garrioch's asking price for Ullmark would be intriguing.

"#GoSensGo were in on Ullmark at the deadline but it was complicated then, Ottawa was in but the most serious offer came in late and it was too complicated to do. (on Bruce's reported asking price) it would be interesting because Goalie trades don't tend to net that much" Friedman said.

Let's get started. You might be wondering what the Boston Bruins are looking for from the Ottawa Senators, as well as what Bruce Garrioch indicated in his last asking price.

Bruce Garrioch stated that in order for the Ottawa Senators to acquire Linus Ullmark, they would need to trade Jakob Chychrun, a first-round pick, and another draft pick to Boston. Garrioch also stated that the Ottawa Senators submitted the Boston Bruins an offer during the trade deadline in March, which included a package that included Joonas Korpisalo, but Boston turned it down.

"A league executive believes the Senators would likely have to offer defenceman Jakob Chychrun along with a first-round pick and another selection to acquire Ullmark. Even then, he has a modified no-trade clause that has 15 teams on it and it's not known if Ottawa is on that list." Garrioch said.

He added, "The Senators offered Korpisalo to the Bruins as part of a package for Ullmark at the deadline, but the Bruins had no interest. Boston can't afford to take on the $16 million in salary and the four years remaining on Korpisalo's contract."

With the NHL Entry Draft in only eight days, which is usually when trade negotiations and activity heat up, we'll have to wait and see where things go on this front. Despite the NHL supposedly preferring clubs to wait until the Stanley Cup Final, three deals took place on Wednesday, so it's possible that Boston and Ottawa will reach a deal earlier than most people think.
