The Anaheim Ducks acquired Robby Fabbri from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for Gage Alexander. A conditional fourth-round pick in the 2025 draft will also be given to the Ducks, which will be the earlier of Detroit's own fourth-round pick or Boston's fourth-round pick.
Fabbri, 28, is a nine-year NHL veteran who has played for Detroit and St. Louis, helping the Blues win a Stanley Cup championship in the 2018-2019 season. He has accumulated 98 goals and 102 assists for 200 points in nearly 400 NHL games and has also totaled 183 penalty minutes.
Gage Alexander, a 22-year-old goalie from Okotoks, Alberta, was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the fifth round (148th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. During his professional career in the ECHL and AHL, Alexander accumulated a record of 11 wins, 19 losses, and 6 ties. By acquiring Robby Fabbri, the Ducks add a veteran presence at center and a leadership boost to their rebuilding core. While Fabbri's exact role is uncertain, he is expected to take on significant minutes in the top six.
