Valtteri Filppula played a total of 1056 games during his career in the NHL, and he even won a Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings back in 2008.

These days, however, Filppula has been playing hockey in the Swiss league, overseas. At 40 years old, the former NHL star has been looking for a new team to call his home. Well, it appears as though he is quite literally, going back home.
The Finnish star is going to Finland to play for Jokerit. Filppula played for Jokerit during his early days as a young prospect. He was with them from 2003 to 2005 before heading off to Grand Rapids in the AHL.
This is a spectacular move for Filppula, who clearly still has a lot of gas left in the tank. Only time will tell whether or not he can bring himself back to those glory days. No matter what, Jokerit fans are just going to be happy to have him back.
Do you believe that Filppula is overrated or underrated? Let us know in the poll down below. Additionally, stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
