Tragic News As Former 1953 Stanley Cup Champion Sadly Passes Away
Hockey fans are mourning the loss of Paul Masnick, a former player for both the Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
At the age of 92, Masnick, who was the oldest surviving member of the Canadiens' 1953 championship team, passed away on March 23 in Barrie, Ontario.
During the 1950s, Masnick showcased his skills with the Canadiens, Blackhawks, and Toronto Maple Leafs, earning recognition for his defensive prowess as a forward. Over his career, he scored 18 goals and assisted on 41 others.
Originally hailing from Wakaw, Saskatchewan, Masnick left a lasting impact on the sport, notably with his overtime goal in Game 6 of the 1951 Semifinal.
With his passing, the Canadiens bid farewell to the last remaining player from their victorious 1953 championship team.
Fans will forever cherish Masnick's contributions to hockey. Rest in Peace, Paul.
