A new report surfaced today indicating that Colorado Avalanche forward Fredrick Olofsson may head back to Europe if he doesn't secure a one-way NHL deal for next season.

Olofsson, who currently plays for the Colorado Avalanche, could be heading to the Swiss pro league next season unless he receives a one-way offer from an NHL club for the 2024-25 season, according to Colorado Hockey Now reporter Evan Rawal.

According to Expressen, Olofsson, who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, will head to Switzerland to play for EV Zug next seasonunless he gets a one-way deal in the NHL. The publication reports that the two parties are deep in negotiations and a one-way NHL contract is the only thing that could stop the transfer from happening. Olofsson does not currently have a one-way deal with the Avalanche.

Despite having 85 games of NHL experience split between the Dallas Stars and the Avalanche, Olofsson has only managed to score 4 goals and tally 13 points. The Avalanche acquired Olofsson in the offseason from the Dallas Stars in exchange for future considerations.

Olofsson has agreed to a one-year contract for the 2023-24 season.

With the Avalanche bolstering their forward depth at the recent trade deadline, Olofsson finds himself back in the American Hockey League, effectively losing his spot in the NHL lineup. This leaves uncertainty about whether he will return to the NHL or pursue opportunities in Europe.
