McGroarty, a 20-year-old Nebraska native, moved to Michigan as a teenager to join the United States National Team Development Program. He has represented the USA twice at the World Juniors, serving as team captain during his second appearance and winning a gold medal. McGroarty has also had two standout seasons with the University of Michigan, tallying 91 points in 75 games.
While his talent is undeniable, McGroarty's demands for guaranteed NHL ice time are proving to be a major hurdle. As he looks to transition from NCAA hockey to the professional ranks, finding a team willing to meet his conditions may be challenging.
