It is anticipated that other teams will compete for the services of the three-time 30+ goal scorer. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet insiders claims that the Seattle Kraken is one of those clubs.
In reference to where Patrik Laine might wind up this summer, Friedman mentioned that he's heard from sources that Seattle is a team to monitor on Wednesday's episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast.
Laine, 26, hasn't played since mid-December after suffering an injury and had a setback in his recovery, which was announced by the team on January 27th. One day later, Laine entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program and missed the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
This season, the Tampere, Finland native played in eighteen games and recorded nine points (six goals, three assists), six penalty minutes, and a minus-ten rating. His deal has two years left on it, with a $8.7 million cap hit. Additionally, Laine's contract has a modified no-trade clause that includes a ten-team no-trade list. As for where he gets moved this summer, and whether he needs to waive his MNTC to do so, we'll have to wait and see.
