Matt Rempe of the New York Rangers is looking to elevate his on-ice fighting skills by training with legendary NHL enforcer Georges Laraque during the offseason.

Although Rempe has yet to complete a full NHL season, he has already made a name for himself among Rangers fans and across the league for his willingness to engage in fights. To further enhance his abilities, Rempe has sought the expertise of Laraque, who played nearly 700 games in the NHL and was renowned as one of the top enforcers of his era.

"I'm training Matt Rempe and Tyrel Bauer for hockey fighting, this week in Edmonton, at the Silent Ice arena. If you thought Rempe was a problem this year in the @NHL, wait till you see him this coming season"

Joining Rempe in this training session is Tyrel Bauer, a Winnipeg Jets draft pick who has been playing with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL. Bauer, like Rempe, has already demonstrated his fighting prowess on the ice.

Laraque, who spent the majority of his career with the Edmonton Oilers and also played for the Phoenix Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, and his hometown Montreal Canadiens, retired in 2010. According to Hockeyfights.com, Laraque participated in well over 100 fights during his NHL career. Rempe, with six fights in his first year, has a lot to learn, but training with Laraque is a significant step towards becoming a more formidable presence on the ice.

The training with Laraque is expected to significantly impact Rempe's performance next season, making him an even more formidable opponent in the NHL.
