Tonight, the NHL is going to have a historic slate of games. All 32 NHL teams will be participating in what is called "Frozen Frenzy. 16 games that are going to last a few hours. It will be a lot of fun for all of the hockey fans out there, although there are some definite problems with the schedule.
As one Twitter user pointed out, all of these games fall on the same night as the NBA opening day slate. Granted, the NBA is only playing two games tonight, but many will be focused on basketball as the sport is finally making its grand return.
Hockey fans have always been extremely critical of Gary Bettman, and in this instance, that is no different. As you can see down below, many feel as though the scheduling here is a complete joke. The league has made the evening too crowded and they are also going to make some of these games impossible to watch thanks to all of the local blackouts that have plagued the league for decades.
At the end of the day, Bettman has never shied away from some experimentation. For instance, he recently put an end to the NHL Awards which were never truly beloved, to begin with. Only time will tell whether or not the ratings for the "Frozen Frenzy" speak to a success or a huge catastrophic flop.
