A horrible scene took place in a game in the SM-Liiga this past weekend as Jusso Vainio of JYP went down with a horrible injury that left him on the ice.

In these instances, players are typically taken off of the ice on a stretcher in an ambulance. However, in the case of Vainio, he was left on the ice for 30 minutes as there was no ambulance in the arena. It was absolutely unacceptable and a lot of fans were completely beside themselves as this went on.

Eventually, an ambulance arrived and took Vainio to the hospital. Thankfully, the injury wasn't all that serious. Moreover, a doctor was, in fact, with him the entire time throughout the ordeal, which certainly makes things a bit better.

"The player was conscious the entire time and all of the player's limbs were moving. Vainio was taken by ambulance to Central Finland Hospital for further examinations.

After the situation, the ice was repaired with an ice machine and the game continued as normal.

JYP will inform more about the situation when additional information about further investigations is received."

Despite this statement from the team, there are fans out there who are completely and utterly disgusted by all of this. Fans feel as though the team should know better and that safety should be a much bigger priority, especially in a sport like hockey.
