The Oilers, along with the Washington Capitals, have been noted for having one of the best off-seasons in the NHL. They have made significant additions to their roster, but these enhancements come with the need for some subtractions due to salary cap constraints.
The team at The Hockey Writers has confirmed that the Edmonton Oilers have decided to proceed without Evander Kane as part of their lineup.
Unfortunately, this marks another instance where Evander Kane's tenure with a team seems to last about two years. After his contract was terminated by the San Jose Sharks, Kane joined the Oilers with the hope that it would be his final chance in the NHL.
Despite scoring 26 goals in 76 games last season, his inability to maintain a stable position with a team raises questions: Why can't Evander Kane keep an NHL job?
Speculation suggests that off-ice issues may be a contributing factor to his frequent team changes. Kane has two years remaining on his current contract with a $5,125,000 cap hit. It remains to be seen if any team will take a chance on him or if his NHL career is approaching an end.
