Connor Bedard's cousin Gavin McKenna sets an outstanding record
Like his cousin Connor Bedard, Gavin McKenna is making waves in hockey at every level he plays. Recently, during the IIHF U18 tournament in Finland, the young winger matched a record with a standout performance, racking up 15 points through six goals and nine assists.
This impressive tally tied him with Tyson Jost's 2016 record and 2024's top NHL draft prospect, Macklin Celebrini, who set his mark just last year.
McKenna played a key role in Team Canada's recent 4-0 shutout over Team Latvia, propelling them into today's Quarterfinals. He was instrumental early on, quickly putting Canada on the board by setting up Maxim Masse for a goal just five minutes into the game.
Other players from the WHL also contributed to the scoresheet in the victory, but it was McKenna's early impact that set the tone for Canada's dominant performance.
As a player eligible for the 2026 NHL draft, McKenna's showing in this tournament certainly adds to his growing reputation as one to watch.
