The broadcasting deal between the National Hockey League (NHL) and Rogers, a Canadian telecommunications company, is wrapping up in 2026, and there's buzz about games potentially moving to another major network up north.

Reports suggest Rogers might sell Monday Night Hockey to Amazon, which could air on Prime Video. And once Rogers' contract with the NHL wraps in 2026, another big network with strong hockey connections might enter the picture for national rights in Canada.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period noted, "Lots of reported chatter this week over SN/Rogers possibly selling its Monday night broadcasts in Canada to Amazon. There's talk Bell (TSN) has also had discussions about jumping back in on the national side, in some form, too. Rogers' deal expires after the 2025-26 season."

TSN previously held national NHL rights in Canada from 2002 to 2014.

Currently, Bell Media and TSN hold regional rights for four Canadian NHL teams: the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Winnipeg Jets.

Fans have long hoped for national broadcasts to return to TSN. It remains to be seen if Bell Media can strike a deal with the NHL in the coming months and into 2025, but negotiations will likely involve other parties, including streaming platforms.
