The Detroit Red Wings have been battling hard to stay in the playoff race as competition heats up.

They put up a solid fight and, with David Perron leading the charge, clinched a 4-2 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena. Beating a divisional rival convincingly is always a satisfying feeling.

However, forward Michael Rasmussen had to leave the game due to taking some hard hits during the match.

According to Head Coach Derek LaLonde, Rasmussen will be sidelined for the upcoming game against the surging New York Rangers at home in Little Caesars Arena. He may also miss Sunday's game against the visiting Buffalo Sabres.

Rasmussen has been a reliable depth forward, contributing crucial secondary scoring for the Red Wings this season.

In 75 games, he has tallied 33 points (13 goals, 20 assists), along with 124 hits and 76 blocked shots.

Rasmussen's consistency earned him a four-year contract, set to begin in the 2024-2025 season.

With Rasmussen out, forward Daniel Sprong will step in; he's been a healthy scratch for the past seven games. Despite that, Sprong is one of the team's top offensive contributors, notching 40 points (17 goals, 23 assists) in his first year with the Original Six franchise.
