Major update on Carson Briere's hockey career after being charged for throwing wheelchair down stairs
It's not often in life that you get a third chance but that's exactly what Carson Briere is about to get. After being cut by Arizona State University, he received a second chance from Mercyhurst University. Briere then threw away that opportunity when he was charged with damaging property after throwing a wheelchair down a flight of stairs at a local bar.
However, despite his poor choices, Carson, now 23, has officially signed a contract with HC 19 Humenné of the Slovak Extraliga league. This is the top division of hockey in Slovakia. Briere's new team has won the league championship two years consecutively.
In 3 years playing for Mercyhurst, Briere played in 82 games and recorded 59 points.
Carson released the following statement after the incident in March.
There is no excuse for my actions, and I will do whatever I can to make up for this serious lack of judgment.
Time will tell if Carson has learned from his past mistakes. Hopefully he can make the best of what could be his last chance.
