Edmonton Oilers defender feels he gets unfairly blamed for everything
Succeeding in the National Hockey League comes with immense amounts of pressure. That pressure can be amplified when you're in a hockey crazy market like Edmonton. Players in these markets are subjected to additional fan scrutiny because of the passion fans have for the game.
On a recent episode of the Mitts Off Podcast, Oilers' defender Darnell Nurse opened up about the pressure playing on Edmonton.
I mean you also have to take a lot of stuff with a grain of salt, like sometimes I feel like I've been blamed for everything from a goal against to the traffic on Stony Plain, right so like it's just you have to be really cognizant of what the pressure you put on yourself
It's not great to hear someone like Nurse who feels this way, but that comes with the territory for teams that want to win. With the Oilers coming up short again this year in the playoffs, Nurse can expect pressure to ramp up even further next season.
