Kyle Dubas terminates the contract of a player he traded for just yesterday
Just a single day after completing a trade with the Vancouver Canucks, the Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that they're terminating the contract of one of the players they acquired.
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Penguins have placed forward Karel Plasek on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.
"Karel Plasek -- acquired yesterday by PIT from VCR -- is on unconditional waivers for purposes of contract termination" Friedman said.
Plasek, 23, spent the 2022-23 season in Czechia with Olomouc HC on a loan from the Vancouver Canucks, where he scored 15 points (6 goals, 9 assists) in 31 regular season games. He followed that up with a strong performance in the playoffs by tallying 5 points in 7 games.
Once Plasek clears unconditional waivers on Thursday afternoon, he'll have his contract terminated and will likely be returning to Czechia, potentially to play with Olomouc HC again.
