Last Saturday night, Habs forward Kirby Dach left the game after some antics led to a massive hit. With only a few minutes remaining in the first period, Dach was launched into the Blackhawks' bench by defender Jarred Tinordi, a former first round draft pick of the Habs. Dach was selected third overall by the Blackhawks in 2019, and was traded during the team's aggressive rebuild despite his high ceiling and age.
The hit appears to be completely clean, which is backed up by the lack of penalty call on the play. In the past few seasons and the only in which he's played, Dach has been hit with a few significant injuries that's halted his development. We'll have to wait on word if this will be another major injury that Dach will have to manage later into his career.
It may be that Tinordi was attempting to make an impression on his new Blackhawks management after this taunt Dach made towards Hawks fans last season.
Later, the Canadiens announced that Dach would be out dealing with this injury long-term, an unfortunate development for the Habs and for Dach.
