Dirtiest hit possible thrown by Kings defenceman
During last night's game between the LA Kings and Winnipeg Jets, Kings' defencemen Andreas Englund deleivered the worst hit of the season so far. His reckless actions drove Jets' forward Cole Perfetti face-first into the boards.
With the score 2-0 Kings in the second period, Englund delivered the hit on the Jets' forward. Perfetti has his back turned to Englund, and is the most vulnerable position being bent over a few feet away from the boards. When Englund makes contact with Perfetti, it results in a dangerous and ugly hit. Shockingly no call was made by the referee on the play. Fortunately, Perfetti did not receive any serious injury and was fine afterward.
In defence of the sophomore Perfetti, Jets defender Dylan Samberg challenged Englund to a fight immediately after the hit. Englund obliged, and proceeded to beat the lights out of Samberg.
Englund should be hearing from the NHL Department of Player Safety for this hit. These are the type of plays the NHL is trying to remove from the game.
