Anaheim Ducks young star requests ridiculous new contract
The Anaheim Ducks are a young rebuilding team with a lot of good young talent. With that good young talent comes the challenges of managing the salary cap. With both Troy Terry and Trevor Zegras needing new contracts the Ducks have been hard at work.
However the Ducks have been unable to reach a deal with Terry and his case will go to arbitration this week. Today both parties released their arbitration requests. Fans immediately took note of Terry's ask, and just how ridiculous it is. Arbitration numbers usually come in far apart, but this case is a definite case of a player asking for WAY too much.
Anaheim and Troy Terry made their arbitration submissions team: $4.5M, player: $8M
Last season Terry scored 23 goals and added 38 assists for 61 points. While the 61 points is a good season, it's nowhere near an $8,000,000 deal, especially on a 1-year contract. The NHL has seen the case of players asking for too much, but this might be one of the most egregious cases.
