The New Jersey Devils season may as well have been considered over before it began, as there's been an announcement about Jack Hughes status that has fans up in arms.

It was announced today that Jack Hughes will be out for the remainder of the season, due a shoulder injury.

He will undergo shoulder surgery tomorrow, and as he goes under the needle, with anesthesia the Devils season hopes will as well.

Hughes had missed a significant amount of time due to a shoulder injury, prior and the team refused to take him off the ice to ensure he healed correctly.

«In recent conversations with Jack, his family and representatives, the Devils athlete care staff, and Devils' Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow, it was determined that Jack should be held out of game action for the rest of this season and proceed with shoulder surgery,» the Devils said in a statement.

It seems likely that he had been suffering through the injury since January, despite this the Devils have pushed him far too hard.

Devils fans aren't happy about the decision and have called out the team and management regarding the decision today.
