Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins are going to have to figure out a new contract very soon as the captain's is about to expire at the end of the year.

Overall, there have been some very interesting rumors as it pertains to Marchand. For instance, there are some people out there who believe there is some sort of way in which we see Marchand in a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey. Having said that, there are now reports that the Bruins are making headway with Marchand.

For instance, Elliott Friedman of Sportsnet recently came out and made the remark that the Bruins and Marchand were close to a three-year extension. Of course, this would be music to the ears of Bruins fans everywhere and rightfully so. We're sure fans of the team would love for their captain to commit to the team.

The other night, Marchand was asked about these reports and he immediately proclaimed that they were all false. Friedman has pretty good sources and is considered to be the most connected insider in the entire sport, so it is interesting to see Marchand shoot all of this down so definitively.

There is no doubt that this is a stressful time for Marchand. All he knows at this stage is playing for the Bruins. However, now he has to deal with the uncertainty of potentially going to another team. If he takes the Crosby route, however, it is safe to say he will be a Bruin forever.
