Philadelphia Flyers, Nic Deslauriers fighting Minnesota Wild's Pat Maroon

With 5:44 remaining in the first period, the Philadelphia Flyers and Minnesota Wild were deadlocked in a scoreless tie. However, a game-changing moment unfolded that ignited the crowd and shifted the momentum.

Nic Deslauriers, who had been benched in the previous game, unexpectedly challenged one of the few remaining NHL heavyweights, Pat Maroon, to a fight. Although the situation didn't necessarily demand a bout, Maroon did Deslauriers a solid by dropping the gloves.
Both tough guys grappled, attempting to land the initial punch, but their efforts fell short. In the exchange, they traded minor jabs, with Maroon throwing numerous uppercuts that missed their mark.
Deslauriers seized control, maneuvering Maroon into a vulnerable position and unleashing a flurry of punches. He repeated this successfully, ultimately triumphing over one of the league's last enforcers.
Pat Maroon's willingness to oblige harks back to the old-school era, where enforcers looked out for each other. When Deslauriers found himself benched, coach Tortorella made it clear he needed more from him, and Maroon provided the Flyers enforcer with an opportunity to demonstrate his value to the team.
