Overall, Stan Bowman and the Edmonton Oilers are in a precarious situation thanks to their salary cap issues.

This past week, the Oilers lost Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway to offer sheets from the St. Louis Blues. Meanwhile, they are currently looking to give Leon Draisaitl one of the biggest contracts in NHL history. Next year, they will have to do the exact same thing with Connor McDavid.

Now, the team wants to bolster its defensive pairings by seeking out a right-shot defenseman. According to Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff, the three names in mind right now are Tyson Barrie, Justin Schultz, and Kevin Shattenkirk. While these players have experience, this isn't the star power fans would have hoped for.

In the tweets down below, you can see that many took aim at Stan Bowman and the Oilers for how they are handling the offseason. Some believe that going after a player like Barrie would completely sink the franchise, especially if paired with Darnell Nurse. Needless to say, there seems to be a whole lot of pessimism here.

The offseason isn't over, which means the Oilers still have time to make all sorts of moves. Having said all of that, it would appear as though the fans are just not approving of what the team has in mind right now. Only time will tell whether or not that changes, and the Oilers can pull off a cap miracle.

Do you believe the Edmonton Oilers are making all of the wrong moves right now? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
