Robin Lehner breaks his silence after Golden Knights threaten to terminate his contract
Robin Lehner didn't report to his mandatory physical with the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and now, the team is trying to get his contract terminated.
Lehner recently went through hip surgery and, of course, that has significantly hampered his ability to play. Despite the fact that he can't play, he still has to show up to Vegas to get his physical done. Since he didn't do it, the team can now take action. However, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Lehner believes he is the right and that the team new all along that he would be absent.
«All I can say at this time is everyone knows why I couldn't be there. I am waiting calmly for things to be sorted out.»
Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon made his statement on the matter, Thursday. As you can see, the team may very well be looking to take a bit of a hard stance against him.
«(Robin) will not be reporting to the club this year. He continues to be unfit to play. There are unique circumstances surrounding this situation that the NHL, the NHLPA and (Vegas) are working through. Collectively, we are assessing our next steps, and when we have more to say, we will.»
Do you believe this spells the end of Lehner's career in the NHL? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
