Nikita Zadorov Faces Suspension After Being Ejected For Boarding
Vancouver Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov found himself ejected from the game against the Vegas Golden Knights after boarding Brett Howden, earning a 5-minute major penalty and a game misconduct. Now, he may be facing further consequences.
The incident unfolded late in the first period when Zadarov collided with Howden, who had his back to the open ice, sending him crashing into the boards. Howden's reaction was one of shock, and the referees wasted no time in sending Zadorov to the locker room for the rest of the game.
This marked Zadorov's first game since March 28th, when the Canucks faced off against the Dallas Stars. Some speculate that the Canucks may have been managing Zadorov's workload, especially as the team is on track for the playoffs and wants to avoid any injuries to key players.
However, Zadorov's recent performance, with only two goals and four penalty minutes in his last five games, leaves room for improvement.
The Canucks now await word from the NHL Players' Safety Department regarding any disciplinary action Zadorov may face, which could include fines or a suspension for his reckless play.
