As the Toronto Maple Leafs face a daunting 3-1 deficit against the Boston Bruins, all eyes are on Game 5 with a mix of anticipation and concern. The spotlight shines on star player Auston Matthews, whose recent illness has cast doubt on his availability for tonight's crucial match.

With Matthews' health up in the air, team doctors hold the key to his participation. Coach Sheldon Keefe remained tight-lipped about the situation, leaving fans and analysts guessing.

No determination yet on Auston Matthews' status for Game 5. It'll be the doctor's call.

Keefe declined to answer if there is something beyond just an illness hindering him.

Despite time passing, Matthews is still under the weather, presenting a significant hurdle for the Maple Leafs. His absence could be keenly felt, given his instrumental role in nearly half of the team's goals throughout the series.

In preparation for tonight, the team had to adjust during practice, with Max Domi stepping in for Matthews in key drills. Should Matthews sit out, it would be a substantial setback for the Maple Leafs, who've struggled to find the net consistently against the Bruins.

Doesn't look like Auston Matthews will practice today. #Leafs working on a PP1 drill on another pad with Domi on in place of him.

However, in the face of adversity, the Maple Leafs must band together, dig deep, and find a way to rally past this challenge to keep their playoff dreams alive.
