Marc Savard lands another NHL job after leaving Calgary Flames
The Toronto Maple Leafs, under Craig Berube, have finally hired the last assistant coach for the team, hiring Marc Savard.
Following extensive deliberation and several interviews, the Toronto Maple Leafs have formally decided to sign Marc Savard. Guy Boucher was removed of his coaching duties by the Maple Leafs last week, which led to this decision.
In an effort to ultimately overcome their postseason difficulties, the Maple Leafs have decided to entirely restructure their coaching staff. Savard will oversee the team's power play, a responsibility he will carry over from his previous season with the Calgary Flames, so this hiring is a solid move.
This afternoon, the Leafs announced the news on their X account.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that Marc Savard has been hired as an assistant coach. The hiring completes head coach Craig Berube's staff for the upcoming season, which includes associate Lane Lambert, assistant Mike Van Ryn, goaltending coach Curtis Sanford, and video coaches Jordan Bean and Sam Kim.
Savard scored 207 goals and 499 assists in 807 regular games with the New York Rangers, Calgary Flames, Atlanta Thrashers, and Boston Bruins during his career. Savard's résumé also includes a Stanley Cup, which he won with the Boston Bruins.
