Auston Matthews, the star player for the Toronto Maple Leafs, was absent from practice before the crucial sixth game against the Boston Bruins.

Reports from reliable sources indicate that Matthews missed the team practice earlier today in Toronto.

"Auston Matthews is not on the ice for the Leafs full morning skate ahead of Game 6."

Although he briefly joined the morning skate, his absence from practice casts doubt on his availability for tonight's game.

"Auston Matthews skated at Scotiabank Arena earlier this morning and isn't on the ice now with #leafs teammates for the formal morning skate.

That's not an encouraging sign about his availability for Game 6."

Despite all rumours about Matthews potential status for game six, a Maple Leafs insider Luke Fox has just confirmed that Auston Matthews will not be playing.

Auston Matthews will not play Game 6.

Despite another disappointing setback the Leafs showed they can beat the Bruins in their last game without him. Players seem confident they can win even if he's sidelined.

The team will be looking to other leaders like Mitch Marner to step up their game, and Joseph Woll to continue making crucial saves, in order to force a decisive seventh game back in Boston.

Last season, the Bruins squandered a 3-1 lead, which adds pressure on them to perform. The Leafs are aiming to take advantage of this challenging situation and turn the series around.
