Today, the Tampa Bay Lightning dropped a bombshell concerning the future of their head coach, Jon Cooper. Multiple sources are confirming that the seasoned coach has inked an extension with the Lightning.

According to a recent post by NHL insider David Pagnotta, Jon Cooper is set to sign on the dotted line, extending his tenure in Tampa Bay through the 2025-26 season. This move tacks on an additional year to Cooper's existing contract, which was slated to run through 2024-25.

I'm told #GoBolts HC Jon Cooper had signed an extension and is under contract through the 2025-26 season.

While some fans are cheering the news, others are scratching their heads, especially after Cooper's recent eyebrow-raising remarks following their loss to the Florida Panthers. His comparison of goalies to skirts sparked considerable backlash, with many calling for an apology that has yet to materialize.

"We might has well put skirts on them then... I think we're letting the goalies off the hook."

With controversy swirling, the Lightning's timing in announcing Cooper's extension raises eyebrows, especially considering the absence of any apology for his remarks.

Now, all eyes turn to team captain and standout player, Steven Stamkos. With the head coach secured, attention shifts to Stamkos, whose contract situation looms large.

As updates trickle in regarding Cooper and Stamkos, we'll be sure to keep you posted. For now, it appears the Lightning are gearing up for another shot at Stanley Cup glory come 2024-25.
