Jessica Campbell could make history and become first female NHL coach

Recent years have seen significant advancements for women in hockey, both in their own leagues and the NHL, and it seems like more history is about to be made in this area.

The Seattle Kraken are thinking of appointing the first female full-time assistant coach in NHL history, according to TSN's Chris Johnston. The name Jessica Campbell has surfaced Before the upcoming season starts, Dan Bylsma, the new head coach, is working to assemble his staff.

Although Campbell hasn't even been hired yet, I'm sure this will receive mixed opinions. As part of Bylsma's staff, Campbell, 31, is currently an assistant coach with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, helping the team try to win an AHL title before returning to the NHL. There's clearly no lack of experience there, and if she's capable of doing the work and grasps it, I'd love to see it.
