NHL icon passes away at 83

Gilles Leger was a legendary hockey figure who served as the assistant General Manager of the Quebec Nordiques from 1984 to 1995.

Unfortunately, it was revealed that Leger passed away at the age of 83, this week. For those who may not know, Leger was also a scout with the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers. He was even a coach in the hockey world and worked within the sport for over 60 years.

Following his tragic passing, the NHL put out a statement, offering their condolences to Leger's friends and family.

"The hockey world mourns the passing of Gilles Leger, whose career in professional hockey spanned six decades as a coach, general manager, pro scout and other Hockey Operations positions for teams in the NHL, AHL and WHA," the NHL said. "We send out heartfelt condolences to his family and the many friends he made in hockey across a lengthy career serving the game he loved."
