After a relatively quiet stretch, an Eastern Conference team has made a move by placing one of their goalies on waivers.
As reported by TSN's Chris Johnston, the Philadelphia Flyers have put 29-year-old netminder Cal Petersen on waivers with the intention of sending him down to the American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
"Placed on NHL waivers today: Cal Petersen (PHI)," Johnston shared in a post on X.
Originally hailing from Waterloo, Iowa, Petersen joined the Flyers during the off-season after a challenging 2022-23 season with the Los Angeles Kings, partly to alleviate his $5 million cap hit.
In his five appearances for the Flyers this season, Petersen holds a 2-2-0 record with a 3.90 goals against average and an .864 save percentage. Additionally, he boasts a 5-8-2 record in 15 games played in the American Hockey League.
