Matvei Michkov was selected seventh overall by the Philadelphia Flyers back in 2023, and this year, he is attending rookie camp, much to the delight of the franchise.

For head coach, John Tortorella, he is already proving to be a challenge. That's because today at practice, Michkov did the Michigan, which led to a hilarious non-verbal response from Torts. It is the perfect Torts response, and it speaks to his no-nonsense nature.

Having said all of that, the kid has talent, and we're sure he will learn to play and behave under Torts' strict system.

Danny Briere remains confident that his head coach will work great with Michkov. They want Michkov to have a solid base on defense, and they know Torts is the type of coach who will guarantee that he gets into the proper shape.

"I know I've said this a few times before, but the chance to have him learn under Torts, we all know know that he's gifted offensively, very, very talented, but he's going to have the chance to learn under Torts to play the other side of the ice as well, and that gets me excited. He's going to get that base early on. I think it's just going to make him better for the rest of his career."
