Recently, Laine was on the ice with the Canadiens as they are starting to engage in some team skates. During today's skate, there was a bit of an altercation, albeit a light one. Laine found himself in the middle of it, but it was in a positive light that the Canadiens brass can certainly appreciate.
As you will see below, the team was doing an offense vs defense drill in the offensive zone. Michael Pezzetta went to retrieve a puck and that is when he was hit pretty hard by David Savard. It seemed like an accident, but when it happened, Laine sprung into action and grabbed Savard to keep him away from Pezzetta who was in pain.
Laine even gave Savard a light shove, but it seemed like that resolved it quite quickly. Essentially, Laine is standing up for his teammates, and you cannot help but admire that kind of dedication. Laine has been criticized for his behavior as it pertains to his teammates, but this should put any speculation to rest, once and for all.
The Montreal Canadiens star has said that he wants to get back to being a 40-goal scorer. Only time will tell whether or not he can make that happen. It is going to be a difficult task, but Laine certainly has the skill to make it happen.
