Philadelphia Flyers finally resolve conflict with problematic goaltender
Alexei Kolosov and the Philadelphia Flyers were in a bit of a dispute that threatened the goaltender's entire future with the franchise.
As we had previously reported, Kolosov was upset because of his stint in Lehigh Valley last year. He felt as though the team left him isolated. Moreover, he felt as though he did not have a real opportunity to show that he is a goalie who belongs on an NHL roster. He was asking to be lent out to Dynamo Minsk of the KHL, but the Flyers would not bite. As for Kolosov, he was refusing to show up to training camp.
According to Kevin Weekes, the two sides found a resolution. Today, Kolosov made the trip to Philadelphia and is officially playing with the team at training camp, where he will get preseason action.
It was then added by Elliotte Friedman that Kolosov just wants a fair chance. However, the Flyers did note that if things don't work out, Kolosov can go back to the KHL. So needless to say, it seems like everyone is getting what they want in the end.
"We will see how this develops over the next few days, but there is word Philadelphia and goalie Alexei Kolosov are working on a solution to his absence.
Kolosov would come over to play for a bit - exhibition games and some AHL, with agreement on a potential return to KHL if he doesn't stay with Flyers.
But they definitely want him to give North America a legit shot" Friedman said.
