Vancouver Canucks take action and put two defensemen on waivers
Overall, the Vancouver Canucks are a team that is on the verge of being a real Stanley Cup contender.
In order to get there, however, the team is going to need to make some difficult choices about its players and what is best for the team, moving forward. A lot of these decisions must be made throughout the preseason and training camp. There are a lot of players trying to get on the roster and there are some pretty significant talents who are going to be cut.
For instance, today, the Canucks decided to put two defensemen on waivers. Those defensemen are
Jett Woo and
Guillaume Brisebois. Brisebois didn't play last season due to injury. Meanwhile, Woo has been perpetually in Abbotsford for the last few years and hasn't been able to accomplish all that much.
Now, it remains to be seen whether or not these players will end up clearing waivers or not. For the moment, it would appear as though they will likely end up going back down to Abbotsford, but you never really know. Either way, this must be a disappointment, albeit an unsurprising one for these guys.
Hopefully, they are able to find their stride and potentially make some noise in the NHL in some other way. For now, the San Jose Sharks would have first dibs if they so chose.
