However, all eyes were on Philly on Monday for a different reason entirely. This is because Guy Gaudreau, the father of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, was a special guest of the team. In fact, Guy was on the ice with the Flyers and was helping Torts run drills. It was a unique way to honor the Gaudreaus and a lot of fans felt it to be wholesome fun.
Following the practice, John Tortorella was asked what sparked this collaboration. As you will hear, Torts revealed that he decided to call Guy and ask if he was willing to participate. It was a random act of kindness and it seems to have made a real impact with the Gaudreau family patriarch.
Tortorella has been characterized as a guy who is a bit rough around the edges. However, it is crystal clear that he is a good guy who is just a bit complicated. Like everyone else in the world, he has his positives and he has his negatives. But at his core, he is most certainly a good guy. Hopefully, more fans begin recognizing that before they blink and he is done with the NHL for good.
