Rempe has been a healthy scratch in numerous games this season. When he does get into the lineup, it is because the team is looking for him to fight. His physical attributes outweigh his skill, and fans aren't sure what his future holds. Some reporters out there believe that Rempe should be getting more playing time. However, the team has not granted him that.
Late last night, Rempe was hit with another unfortunate fate. It was revealed that he was sent down to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. The team feels like he can develop down there, and back to the American Hockey League he goes. For many, this is certainly a regression.
One has to wonder what this means for Rempe and his career exactly. After all, he should be a frequent NHLer by now. However, he is suffering from a similar fate as Arber Xhekaj. They are two players who are more known for fighting than for actual hockey talent. This is not going to get you very far in today's league.
Only time will tell whether or not Rempe figures it out, or becomes a novelty who ends up fading fast. It would be an absolute shame for this to be the end of the road of his NHL career. We will just have to wait and see what transpires.
