New York Islanders head coach Patrick Roy unfortunately coached his team to a loss on Saturday night at the hands of the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers.

Overall, it was not the greatest game for the Islanders, although it wasn't the actual game that brought attention to the team. Instead, it was actually what happened before the game that is truly going to capture the attention of the league and its rules committee.

According to numerous sources, coach Roy was not made available pre-game for media interviews. Moreover, players were given the same fate. This is in violation of the league's rules, which state that the coach must be available to talk with the media before the game. There was no explanation given for why the Islanders did this.

General Manager Lou Lamoriello is known for doing things his way and keeping thing old school, for better or for worse. Some find his mentality absolutely obnoxious while others find it refreshing when you consider today's landscape. Regardless, there is absolutely no doubt that the league will take a look at this.

As for the Islanders, they are off to a solid start. They are a team that is not expected to do much of anything. However, they are currently 3-3-2 and have the potential to even make a playoff push come March and April.
