For those who may not know, Lamoriello does not allow players to have bears or long hair. This is very much in mine with the rule the New York Yankees used to have for decades. Once you sign with the team, you have to chop it all off. It is a bizarre rule and a bit Draconian, all things considered. However, Lamoriello has never made an exception.
In a new Instagram story, Duclair posted a photo of his dreads sitting on a table after cutting them off. He followed this up with a smiling face emoji that had one tear coming from it. Needless to say, he is just a bit sad to see them go.
Following the news, NHL reporter Scott Wheeler noted that this is a bad sign, as it makes the game look uninclusive. While many fans disagreed with this take from Wheeler, others certainly agreed that Lamoriello has been taking his policy a bit too far.
Thankfully, there is only one general manager in the league who is doing this kind of thing. Only time will tell whether or not Lamoriello changes his policy thanks to the recent backlash. It's unlikely, but you never know.
