Samuel Montembeault broke the record for most saves in a shutout on opening night when the Montreal Canadiens played the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday evening.

However, there are still a ton of questions around the Montreal Canadiens and their goaltending situation. Of course, this is a team that only has Montembeault and Cayden Primeau. Primeau did not have a good outing on Thursday night with the Habs losing to the Boston Bruins by a score of 6-4. With that in mind, some NHL insiders thing the Habs must make a move.
This is something that was expressed by Darren Dreger on TSN 690 earlier today. In his segment, he noted that the Habs are a team that really need goaltending, even if he personally believes they are doing just fine. It is the other analysts and insiders who think the Habs will eventually have to make a move of some sort.
Realistically, it is way too early to tell if this is actually going to be the case or not. If Montembeault can play consistently well, then the Habs have a shot at the postseason. However, if it is another season like last year, then the Habs may just have to bite the bullet and make a real move.
Canadiens fans are going to be praying that this is not their fate. They want Montembeault to be great and he has the potential. But fans should not be surprised if this is yet another year of development.
