Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes has his work cut out for him as the team has not been particularly great to start the year.

Overall, they had a couple of solid games to start. They defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in the season opener. In the first three games, they had two wins and fans were convinced that this was a sign of things to come. However, since that time, they have lost four games in a row and have been looking awful, apart from the play of Cole Caufield.

With that in mind, it should come as absolutely no surprise that Hughes would be looking to make some kind of move. This team needs help, and they need it fast at this point. According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN, Hughes is, indeed, making phone calls and pushing for a move.

"What I'm being told from talking to teams around the league is that GM Kent Hughes has started to call around doing his due diligence, at least getting a sense of what is potentially out there, I think the Canadiens would be open to making a move here"

If the Habs did make a move, it probably would not make them immediate contenders. At the end of the day, they still have a whole lot of work to do before they reach that stage. Hopefully, for Habs fans, the team can get it together sooner rather than later.
