Montreal Canadiens Release An Official Statement On Martin St. Louis' Return
Martin St. Louis, after a brief leave to spend time with his family, is making his way back to the helm of the Montreal Canadiens.
The team announced that St. Louis has rejoined the squad in Denver and is set to lead the Canadiens from the bench in their upcoming game against the Avalanche on Tuesday. St. Louis's leave was to support his son, Mason, who is recovering from an injury sustained during a hockey game.
"I'd like to thank Geoff Molson, Jeff Gorton, Kent Hughes, along with Trevor Letowski, our players, coaches, and hockey operations staff for fully understanding and facilitating my need to be with my family for the past several days. Everyone within the Canadiens organization has been very supportive of my wife Heather and me as we fully focused on our son Mason and his recovery from a hockey injury. As parents, nothing is more important to us than our three sons, Ryan, Lucas, and Mason."
With St. Louis's return to the team, it's hoped that his son is on the mend. Details about Mason's injury, including its nature and timing, haven't been disclosed. St. Louis has been guiding the Canadiens since February 2022, transitioning to coaching after hanging up his skates in July 2015 following an illustrious playing career.
