With their fifth-round pick this year, the Montreal Canadiens selected goaltender Mikus Vecvanags, who was then taken by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the QMJHL international draft.

Unfortunately, the Titan have found themselves in a horrible situation. Despite drafting the goaltender, the Titan will not get to see him suit up for them. Instead, Vecvanags is refusing to report to the team. According to Gregory Balloch, Vecvanags has officially signed with the Brooks Bandits, who are in the British Colombia Hockey League.

What makes this decision so odd is the fact that the BCHL is known for being a lesser league with worse competition. Needless to say, this is a head-scratching decision for Vecvanags and his development. Only time will tell whether or not this was a bad decision.

Let us know what you think about this, in the poll down below. Additionally, stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
