Montreal Canadiens forward announces his retirement

Gabriel Bourque is a player who had a long NHL and AHL career that saw him go to places like Nashville, Colorado, Winnipeg, and even the Montreal Canadiens.

Although he never suited up for his home province team in a regular season game, he did spend quite a few training camps with the franchise. Over the past three years, however, he has mostly gotten to play with the Laval Rocket. Last season, he played 43 games with the team and recorded just two goals and nine assists for 11 points.
Today, it was revealed that Bourque would be officially retiring from the game of hockey at the age of 34. Following the announcement, it was revealed that Bourque already has a new job. In fact, he will remain within the game of hockey. He is now the assistant coach at Lionel-Groulx College in Ste. Therese, Quebec
Bourque played a total of 413 games in the NHL and he managed a total of 40 goals and 63 assists. His best season came in 2013-14 when he had 26 points total with the Nashville Predators. This came with nine goals and 17 assists. It was a modest career, however, making the National Hockey League is an accomplishment in and of itself.
We wish Bourque the best of luck in his next endeavor. Retiring from the sport is a bittersweet moment for any player. But staying within the sport is always even more special.
