However, it has proven to be a winning strategy for the Montreal Canadiens who are otherwise known for being kind of soft. Recently, Xhekaj and the Habs won their season opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, a situation took place during a commercial break between David Savard, Max Domi, and Xhekaj.
Eventually, Domi backed off knowing just how much of a heavyweight Xhekaj is. In fact, it seems like even Ryan Reaves is scared of Xhekaj. The latter kept trying to coax Reaves into a fight, but it simply didn't work out.
It seems like the whole league is becoming afraid of Xhekaj. The only player who probably isn't scared of him is Matt Rempe. Only time will tell if that changes. At the end of the day, the Habs probably enjoy having the kid around knowing he elicits fear in the team's enemies. Having said that, he is a player who still needs to work on his game. He is not perfect by any means and his physicality remains his best quality.
