Ryan Reaves is employed by the Toronto Maple Leafs to fight and to defend the honor of his teammates at all costs.

However, it would appear as though Reaves is starting to lose his edge. Last night against the Montreal Canadiens, Reaves was seen ducking a challenge from Arber Xhekaj. Xhekaj is the perfect person for Reaves to fight, but instead of accepting the challenge, he kept skating away and it was getting embarrassing.
Former NHL enforcer Georges Laraque spoke out on these scenes and had a pretty interesting take on all of it. In his estimation, Reaves is completely scared of Xhekaj and it is a terrible look given the situation Xhekaj found himself in with Cedric Pare.
"He's afraid of him! After what Xhekaj did to the Leaf last game, he had to respond! Xhekaj was resdy formhim and was expecting him last night, Xhekaj cross checked him twice, backed up, waited for him and he wanted nothing to do with him"

This is not a good look for Reaves who was ultimately scratched from the Leafs lineup on Thursday night. He got scratched a lot last season under Sheldon Keefe and it is not getting any better now that Craig Berube is the coach. As he gets older, it might be time for Reaves to consider hanging up the skates, especially if he isn't going to fight.
