In Game 2 of the second-round series between the Bruins and the Florida Panthers, Tkachuk and Pastrnak dropped the gloves. It was an interesting fight and it was clear that Tkachuk was the winner. However, as it turns out, the backstory of the fight does not paint Pastrnak in the best light. In fact, it even puts his toughness as a player into question.
While on The Cam & Strick Podcast, Tkachuk noted that he and his teammates were fed up with how the Bruins were acting that game. As a result, Tkachuk went up to Pastrnak and challenged him to a fight.
As Tkachuk alleges, Pastrnak avoided giving a real answer until Tkachuk told him that they need to fight immediately. From there, Pastrnak looked back at Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery for approval. Montgomery gave him the nod and Pastrnak did it, but almost in a begrudging way.
Meanwhile, Tkachuk noted that he respects Pastrnak. However, he noted that a player like that typically doesn't fight. That statement in and of itself holds a lot of implications. In fact, some Bruins fans see it as disrespectful, and they want Pastrnak to use this as motivation for next season.
